Helios

Nature-inspired solar research.

Nature has already solved problems that solar panels still have. Moth eyes barely reflect light, lotus leaves clean themselves, and leaves shed heat. Helios looks for solutions like these and asks which could help today's solar panels catch more light, stay cool, keep clean and last longer.

Behind the password

The Helios site is an expert edition, built for the scientists and engineers reviewing the work. It holds:

  1. The physics and simulations behind each idea.
  2. A calculator for working through the energy numbers.
  3. Open ideas and hypotheses, each tagged Known (sourced), Hypothesis (untested, with what would prove it wrong) or Concept (a design direction, not a claim).
  4. The published science and existing products it builds on.

It's gated because some of it is early and not ready for wide sharing yet.
