Recent work

Four recently completed pieces.

pop goes the pixel

Some of my images invite you to invent your own narrative; some people consider that a few carry sexual overtones. I continue to experiment and pursue my interest in the 60s pop art movement.

the shoe box

There are those who find the high heeled shoe to be a beautiful artefact rather than just something to wear. It's a shoe thing, even a 'ready made'.

girls on film

The photographic and film processes themselves introspectively put on pedestals as artefacts.

the paint shop

Images that celebrate cosmetic make-up. They explore how some women paint their faces, for fun, fashion, fetish or fantasy. Some are deliberately kitsch.

pools

A series based on swimming pools in France, Madeira and South Africa. I am continuing with this theme.

collages

Pulling togther those of my images which could be categorised as collages or photomontage.

out of line

A collection of images in which I first crossed the boundaries of the view finder and stepped out of the camera frame.

Peru 1999

Photographs taken while on a journey from Puno to Cusco and the surrounding areas. Most are enhanced but not otherwise changed. More will be added to the series later.

Bilbao 1998

Six images derived from photographs shot on one day around the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, Spain.

Aragón

Images based on shots taken in Aragón, Northern Spain. I have many more, especially archways, doorways and narrow streets.

France

Some of these prints began a new direction in my work. Those original negatives were shot around the Languedoc region of France. Others are from Provence and Brittany and I have yet more from Paris, the Loire, the Ardeche and Normandy.

Brittany '67

Seven monochrome photographs taken in Brittany, France in 1967, and some not worked until 2000. There are more negatives yet to print.

China

Images representing the many pictures I shot in China and Hong Kong in 1985/6 and 1995. Others will be added later.

easy viewing

A selection of more conventional, less challenging photos with apparently little manipulation.

Pauline Boty

A rare set of portraits of the 60s pop artist, shot by the late graphic designer and photographer John Aston in 1962.

Most images are available for sale as signed limited editions of ten, 25 or 50 prints. They are available to buy online as easy-to-post prints. Some images are approximately 10x8 inches on A4 paper; others are approximately 15x12 inch prints on super A3+ fine-art paper.
